About Me

There isn’t one right way to be human, but a lot of people are exhausted from trying to live life as if there is.

My work exists to challenge that idea, widen what’s considered possible, and help people trust themselves in a world that too often rewards conformity over humanity.

Hello I’m Ella - also known as Purple Ella

I’m a neurodivergent communicator, coach and speaker whose work sits at the intersection of lived experience, clarity and cultural change. For nearly a decade I’ve been using my voice to support neurodivergent people to understand themselves with compassion, and to help the wider world understand neurodivergent differences with nuance, respect and care.

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief:

There are as many ways to be human as there are stars in the sky.

How This Work Began:

I was diagnosed as autistic and with ADHD in my late thirties. As for many late diagnosed neurodivergent adults, that diagnosis didn’t ‘fix’ anything, but it explained everything. Years of exhaustion, self-doubt, and trying to do life ‘properly’ suddenly made sense. I wasn’t broken, I was navigating a world that hadn’t been designed with people like me in mind.

In 2016, I began sharing openly online about neurodivergence. What started as a way to make sense of my experience quickly became something bigger.

Today more than 250,000 people follow my work across platforms.

The Impact Of My Work:

Purple Ella became a trusted voice not because I offered quick fixes, but because I spoke honestly and human-to-human about neurodivergence.

Over the years my work has helped:

• Neurodivergent adults recognise themselves and feel less alone.

• Professionals rethink deficit-based narratives.

• Organisations move beyond awareness and towards understanding.

My content has contributed to a broader cultural shift. Away from seeing neurodivergence as something to be corrected and managed, and towards seeing it as a valid and valuable way to be human.

Alongside my online work, I’ve delivered talks, training and keynote speeches for professional audiences and organisations.

MY

MOTIVATION

Whether through coaching, speaking or advisory work, my aim is the same. To widen the story of what a good life can look like, and to help people stop treating difference as a problem to be solved.

My work exists to make more room for different types of minds, lives and different ways to be human.
